Absolutely my style of song. One of my favorite voices in the whole competition, and the harmonies are catchy. This is a song I’d listen to outside the competition, it’s so tight. Reminds me a tiny bit of Rilo Kiley, which is my second favorite band of all time. Huge props.

My absolute favorites are Faster Jackalope, Frankie Big Face, Rain Watt, Vowl Sounds.

I love this mix. Drums and bass, guitars and vocals all sound excellent. Great dynamics! Nice use of hand claps. Hand claps usually bug me, but I really like the way you use them here. Nice guitar lines, but I’m missing a solo. This reminds me of a myriad of Pete recommended bands like Architecture in Helsinki and the like. Strong Song! I wish there was more prominent Vom vocals in the chorus, to fill in some low end. Good job!

My favorites are Frankie Big Face, Merisan, and Rain Watt
I also love BSS and Faster Jackalope, but I’m not objective.

us! Another one that took a lot of work, there were mixes of this song that were a minute shorter and longer than the actual length it ended up being! It was worth the effort though, I think this came out sounding great.

Dissing your ex’s next? If even there’s nothing to it, people would read a lot into that. I liked the reference to your first song. I also like the “Charlie Brown adult or pissed-off Sim” line. Your voice is almost too sweet to be dissing people. That actually did feel a little out of place. But overall nice work. Picked a target, and went after her...or him. Guess it depends on if I’m reading too much into it. ;p

“that’s the closest she’ll ever get to reflection” killed me. Hilarious. This is something I expect to hear from the best of the 80s. I like the narrative of this song, the synths, the singing is great, and the use of the title is great.

good as always, seems like you guys are incapable of making a bad song. I really like the guitar lines.

I think VV was slightly dreading this challenge, but I guess I'm more mean-spirited than him. Or maybe just more American and willing to be rude. But I relished the process of coming up with some nasty things to say! And I loved the power pop instrumental Vom came up with and all the dynamic arrangement changes and flourishes once we got the structure settled--my favorite little touch is the triumphant synth note heading into the chorus after the "fine and empty space" break.

Also, my dumb cat wouldn't leave me alone when I was trying to record vocals for this, and I ran out of time to listen back to all my tracks before sending them over to Vom Vorton Saturday night, so I just attached three takes of the main vocal track and asked him to check for cat sounds and try to comp together the good takes. Attached for your enjoyment is an outtake he sent back, "Pump The Catnip" ft. Miss Lily Kitty. And cat tax.

Summary: Great performances all around. Great production value. The brit-pop elements are so fun.
Challenge: You've got the singing down, but it's performed laid back, with a nonchalant vibe, without many sustains. Your challenge is to use melisma, because why the heck not.
