Elevator Men
by Merisan

The sky is clear
The moon is bright
But will they see
It shine tonight?

They never look
More than a peek
a passing glance
at Paris streets

Elevator men
(What do you hear?)
Les Hommes d’ascenseur
(Who do you tell?)
High and low
(All of the secrets)
Haut et bas

How does it feel
To rise and fall
To head up and down and up
And nowhere at all

Elevator men
(What do you hear?)
Les Hommes d’ascenseur
(Who do you tell?)
High and low
(All of the secrets)
Haut et bas

I like how you've clearly gone for elevator music, but threw it on a 10/8 beat. Love the drum work and mixing here. And of course, +1 for vibraslaps. I kind of feel like you're challenging the judges so you can be pissed off when the late one phones in rankings. 😉 The vocal melodies really don't do much for me until the bop bop bop bops. Really like the synth work and bass line. On subsequent listens, I think the bass should have been a little higher - it is the melodic thread that ties the song in a bow for me.

Sounds like something that might play during a montage in a 60’s or 70’s movie. You know, in a happy montage where everything is right in the world right before all hell breaks loose. Vocals may be a little to loud in the mix, but really nothing bad to say here.

When we were brainstorming we thought of Stereolab as inspiration. That led Erin to thinking of using the title in French, and we wound up with this song about old timey Eiffel Tower elevator operators. I think we may explore this style more in the future.
