Indie Rock Gold! This would come up on my Spotify Discover playlist. I have a deep genre bias towards this. I had to go re-listen to Message Received. I liked it, but I love this one. Dynamics get an A+. It gets quiet and it serves the composition. This is a contender for the top spot.

well my only criticism of your previous song was that it didn't really fit with the title, this one does and so I've got nothing. One of the things I sometimes find myself thinking while listening to these songs is "this is a good song but would I listen to it outside of the challenge?" and in your case both of your songs so far have been "100% yes, and I'd buy the album". Ranked purely on the song this would be my clear #1 of the round, in terms of dynamics it's really excellently done too.

catchy with lots of personality in the vocals. a bit lo-fi compared to much of the competition but that seems to fit your style well. the lyrics pull you really caught my interest with your lyrics which is rare for me. this is another one I'd have to put in my top 5. this is probably my personal 2nd favorite of the round.

This is good—excellent songwriting and arrangement. Lyrics are intense without being off-putting. The song keeps getting better as it goes along. By the way, your round zero entry really, really, really reminded me of The Weakerthans (whom I quite like), to the extent that I felt compelled to verify that someone hadn’t submitted one of their actual recordings.

God I love this song. At first I thought it was a general statement made about the some (more privileged) members of the LGBTQ community who don’t always show the most compassion to other members. Now that I know about that chad guy, I’m especially impressed. This has some great use of line breaks (“to put yourself down
....as a writer”), great disses, coulda been used for this week. Really well sung, love your voice, especially when you come down to the quiet chorus bits.

Not all that familiar with Chad Felix Greene so I hope that didn’t take some of the enjoyment away from this song. I didn’t dislike it, but I just struggled to connect with the verses. I thought the chorus was extremely well written & catchy. The vocals & music got the job done, but didn’t really blow me away. The vocals did do a good job of putting some feeling into the lyrics.

I loved this. This time I’m getting Fountains of Wayne from Rain Watt. Again this is a huge compliment. Not only is the music super strong but the lyrics are brilliant. Biting, so smart, and so vulnerable in the breakdown. They really resonated with me on several levels, from laughter at how snarky the disses were, to identifying with them on the bridge ("if you get to yourself before they do/does it hurt less" was my fucking mantra for like the 1st 35 years of my life. it's why I STILL can't take a compliment without audibly self-critiquing to make up for it. Anyway, moving on). Dynamics challenge nailed. All around top notch.

Lo-fi goodness. Glorious melodies. The quiet sections are very intimate. "If you get to yourself before they do does it hurt less?" is electric, what a great line. Tangible rage. Love the pretty, noisy pileup at the end.

guitars a bit grating at first, but the chorus/hook sucked me in big, loved it. Then I listened to the lyrics and they were very heartfelt and passionate. Great song!

Rachel Layne - loved the gritty vocals. Your song sounds especially awesome when it's sped up about 25%
